Customer Service Nightmare

I strongly recommend AGAINST using Mercola.com or Blackwing.com to get organic ostrich meat.
I gave them an honest try.  They never delivered.
In addition, they insist on annoying you by telephone and telling you how great their customer service is (even though they never even delivered the product I purchased).
Repeated emails confirmed their policy of insisting on […]

Granola

I weighed in at 280.5 this morning.
I had granola and yogurt for breakfast (both organic) and an organic grapefruit.  Granola is about the closest thing in the U.S. that I can find to my favorite Swiss cereal… muslix.
Today, I’m going for a 2 mile walk… up from a mile each day last week.

Fillet Mignon Of Elk

Dinner was a wedge salad (organic) with blue cheese crumbles and cherry tomatoes (all organic).
That was followed by fillet mignon of elk (also called the back strap).  I marinaded the elk overnight in the refrigerator in a marinade of soy sauce, lemon juice, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, salt, pepper and cayenne.
Dessert was another scoop of […]

Fried Eggs And Sausage

I weighed in at 278 this morning.
I had fried eggs and beef sausage for breakfast.  That was followed with a half grapefruit.  Everything was organic.
I’m off for a leisurely Saturday walk.  The weather is awesome today.

Buffalo Burgers

I ate the soup for both breakfast and lunch.  It was very yummy.  With breakfast, I also had a half grapefruit.  With lunch, I also had an apple.
Dinner was a salad of some unknown lettuce type with ranch dressing and several kinds of cheeses.  That was followed by buffalo burgers which were seasoned with cayenne, […]

On The Road

We drove two hours to see a family member in a Junior High musical last night.  It was excellent and the family member played the lead part in Fiddler On The Roof.  Utah has more talent in it’s Junior High School productions than I remember in the college productions in California where I used to […]

Cherimoya

That didn’t take long.A blog reader identified my mystery fruit as a cherimoya. It sounds yummy. Here is a picture:

Here is some information about them:

Diamond Organics

I received my order from Diamond Organics today.
I’m very pleased.
The apples look almost as good as non-organically grown apples.
I also ordered a surprise basket of vegetables and a surprise basket of fruits.
As expected, it was mostly apples and oranges for the fruit box and mostly lettuces for the vegetable box (about half of each).   […]

Sausage And Eggs

I weighed in at 279 this morning.
I ate sausage (beef organic) and scrambled eggs (organic) for breakfast.  I also ate a salted grapefruit and drank a glass of organic milk.
I’m going for a walk now.

Another Shrimp Recipe

The lunch shrimp recipe reminded us of our favorite coconut shrimp recipe at our favorite Chinese restaurant. But, of course… it didn’t have any coconut in it.
So, for dinner, I prepared the shrimp the same way as for lunch except I added a can of coconut milk and reduced longer. It never did […]

A Tasty Shrimp Recipe

For lunch, I finished off the tuna salad over baby greens, alfalfa sprouts, a couple kinds of cheese and the same dressing as yesterday except for some tomato juice added.
Then I pinched off the tales of some super jumbo shrimp (about 1/2 pound).  I heated up some olive oil until it sizzled when I dripped […]

An Apple A Day…

When staying at European hotels, there is generally a bowl of apples or sometimes apples, oranges and peaches sitting on a stand next to the elevator.  You are expected to just help yourself just about any time of day.  Isn’t that interesting?
I have already mentioned that their fruit (including apples) looks rather sickly by American […]

European Breakfast

I weighed in at 280 pounds this morning.
I ate a reasonable facsimile of a European breakfast this morning.  I had pumpernickle bread with butter spread on it and topped with roast beef and swiss cheese.  I ate this with a knife and fork as you are expected to do in Europe.  Here, it would seem […]

Pork Chops

I had a large salad for lunch.  The lettuce was romaine, topped with asagio and feta cheese, broccoli sprouts, and cherry tomatoes.  The dressing was about equal parts of lemon juice, vinegar and oil with a dash of cayenne in it.   For some substance, I added two large scoops of tuna salad (tuna, mayo, mustard […]

Natural/Organic Foods

As I studied the differences between my skinny European friends and my fat American friends, I noticed that they ate a lot more real food.
What do I mean by that?
It’s hard to describe. But, when you go to the grocery store in the U.S., it is huge as compared to the little grocery stores […]

Fried Eggs

This morning, I weighed in at 282 pounds.
I drank a large glass of water when I woke up.
I ate two fried eggs, two pieces of rye toast smothered with butter, a large glass of tomato juice and a half grapefruit for breakfast.
Following breakfast, I walked one mile.  It took 25 minutes.

Steak For Dinner

At around 3pm, I had another granny smith apple and a glass of water.
At 6pm, I ate out at a steak house.  I had a 12 oz New York steak with brocolli, squash and carrots.  The salad was romaine with Ceasar dressing.  The bread was wheat and was served with butter.

Salmon Is Yum!

At about noon, I ate a granny smith apple and drank a glass of water.
For lunch (around 1pm), I made a small salad of baby greens.  I put a tablespoon of vinegar on the greens before adding some ranch dressing, alfalfa sprouts, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper.  I then prepared 1/2 pound of salmon by […]

What Kind Of Diet Is That?

Some might be wondering what kind of diet I’m trying with a breakfast like that.
It’s almost “low carb”, but the milk and grapefruit don’t quite fit… especially if I’m starting the “induction” phase.
It sure isn’t a “low fat” diet.
Absolutely not a “reduced calorie” diet.
It’s not a “caveman” diet.
It sounds almost like a “I’m not dieting” […]

Big Breakfast & Walking

I started my new routine this morning.
I woke up and drank a large glass of water.
I weighed in at 284 pounds.
I made a big breakfast consisting of a three egg omelette with cheese fried in a mixture of butter, salt, pepper and cayenne.  Along with the omelette, I had a half salted grapefruit and a large […]

Checking Out Where You Stand

Although I’m not willing to accept any of the various organizations and government agency’s word as gospel, I think it’s a good idea to see where I stand with my weight problem.  You can run the same calculations here:
http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/
I chose the neutral version (which defaults to male).
I currently weigh 285 pounds.  I’m 6′3″ tall.  I’m […]

Welcome!

My name is James Brausch.
I’m overweight.
In fact, I weigh 285 pounds and am 6 foot 3 inches tall.
That puts me in the obese category on most charts.
This blog will chronicle my weight loss program.
I plan to post daily during the week and will post my daily weigh-in, so everyone can decide if they want to […]
