Several folks have opined that losing weight is as simple as reducing your caloric input and/or increasing the number of calories you burn.
For years, the FDA itself taught this nonsense even though it has been refuted literally thousands of times. Let’s take a closer look.
The theory is based on treating the human body as a […]
Before giving this recipe, I should warn you that it contains a high carb count.
A blog reader recently criticized the fat count. Fat doesn’t make you fat. In fact, the most weight I have ever lost was on a high fat diet. I don’t recommend that for several health reasons, but the fact is that […]
Breakfast was buffalo italian sausage (1/4 pound), 1/2 cup of cauliflower, 1/2 cup of bean sprouts stir fried in beef boulion, soy sauce and chopped scallions.
Lunch was chicken (1 cup chopped), 1/3 cup of asparagus, 1/3 cup of sprouts, 1/3 cup brocolli stir fried in chicken boulion.
Dinner was sandwich steak (like on philly cheesesteak sandwiches), cauliflower, […]
Breakfast was two fried eggs and two pieces of buttered rye toast.
Lunch was 1/4 pound of tarragon turkey salad and 1/4 pound of saag baag salad at Wild Oats.
Dinner was a stir fry with 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tsp beef boulion, 8 oz buffalo filet mignon, 1/2 cup chopped brocolli, 1/2 […]
A lot of people responded negatively because they hadn’t read my prior post about the two meanings of the word “diet” and the one we would use here:
1. Diet means what you eat.
2. Diet means restricting something (usually calories or fat) in order to suffer and lose weight.
The meanings are similar, but the attitude is […]
I’ve been thinking about how to be most successful in my weight loss efforts using the skills I use to be successful in other areas of my life.
One of my major skills is reverse engineering via a particular style of statistical analysis. In my career, I reverse engineered computer processors, military equipment of other […]
Yesterday I had:
1/2 grapefruit for breakfast.
Celery, zuchini and an apple for lunch along with a cup of prune juice.
Hamburger, green beans, tomatoes and a glass of prune juice for dinner.

Home made soup for lunch. I has zuchini, tomatoes, bean sprouts, grapefruit juice and […]

One half grapefruit for breakfast.
Two boiled eggs, squash, green beans and tomato juice for lunch.
Steak (buffalo filet mignon), tomatoes and squash for dinner.

Here’s today’s menu:
For breakfast, I had 1/2 grapefruit.
For lunch I had a salad of celery, chopped tomato and green beans. For the dressing, I used lemon juice and cayenne. It was very yummy! For desert, I had a 1/8th slice of cantaloupe.
For dinner, I plan chicken breast (it is marinating in lemon juice and cayenne […]

What a bunch of rubbish!
In school, my slave teachers (they worked for the government that forced this rubbish on them to teach) taught that we should get equal amounts of the “four basic food groups” which were:
1. Breads and cereals
2. Dairy
3. Meat, fish and poultry
4. Fruits and vegetables
They knew it was a lie, but they […]
On Tuesday morning, I started a juice fast as an experiment.
I have juiced in the past, but I have never done a juice fast (eating nothing… only drinking juice).
I’m using a Champion 2000 juicer and drinking all juice immediately after juicing. I have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that I’m juicing. I juice […]
I weighed in at 280.5 pounds this morning.

I weighed in at 280.5 this morning.

I weighed in this morning at 281.
During my trip, I had a few meals that were not consistent with the diet plan I was using. I ate at Joe’s Crab Shack, the Buggy Whip (a family owned steak house) and had a picnic prepared by a family member that included a lot of junk food… […]
There have been at least five times in my life where my lifestyle did lead to an ideal weight or weight loss at a rate that would lead to my ideal weight.
I’ll cover each in more detail in the future, but I thought I would list them for you to ponder:
1. Running and eating well. […]
I weighed in at 281.5 pounds this morning.
Breakfast was fried eggs (organic fried in organic butter), a half grapefruit, rye toast, a pear and carrot juice.

The FDA is still recommending reducing fat in your diet in order to lose weight. Here is a quote from their web site:
“Limit portions of foods high in fat: dairy products like cheese, butter, and whole milk; red meat; cakes and pastries.”
Here is the URL if you don’t believe me:

They piss me off so much. […]
I weighed in at 279.5 this morning.
I injured my foot on friday (stepped on one of my kids toys), so I don’t know how much walking I’ll do early this week.
Breakfast was home-made chicken vegetable soup with all organic chicken, carrots, potatoes, peas and green beans.
I had buttered (organic) rye toast (organic) along with the […]
We had a freak snow storm with high winds.
I didn’t take a walk yesterday.
Today I weighed in at 280.5.
Any diet and exercise program will at times not fit your lifestyle or circumstances. There is no reason to beat yourself up because you missed a walk or ate a huge piece of chocolate cake.
You have […]
Last night I had a salad with iceberg lettuce. A week ago or so, I had a wedge of iceberg lettuce.
I do enjoy a wedge with blue cheese crumbles from time-t0-time, but I generally try to avoid it.
Why?
I don’t know this myself, but I have heard that there is really very little nutritional value in […]
I weighed in at 281.5 this morning.
Yesterday, I walked 2 miles pushing a stroller.
Lunch was two bowls of meat and vegetable soup. The meat was a combination of elk and beef. Veggies included parsley, potatoes, carrots, broccoli and squash. Everything was organic.
Dinner was fine dining. I started with a carrot/ginger bisque. Then a blue cheese […]
I weighed in at 279 this morning.
I ate a huge breakfast including two fried eggs, two pieces of buttered toast, a slab of smoked salmon, vegetable juice (juiced the veggies we didn’t eat last week because new veggies arrived from Diamond Organics), a half grapefruit and half a mango.
I’m off for my daily walk… which, […]
I was on the road again today.
It’s much more difficult to eat a good meal while on the road… especially for lunch.
For dinner, you can always choose a fine dining restaurant. They aren’t nearly as common as Europe, but you can find them.
What do you do for lunch?
The alternative I recently found was a health […]
I had been avoiding my driveway for my walks because it is a quarter mile long and is a 40 degree climb.
I felt so good this morning that I went for it. That made my morning walk about 2.5 miles instead of a mile to my property gate and a mile back.
I weighed in at […]
I strongly recommend AGAINST using Mercola.com or Blackwing.com to get organic ostrich meat.
I gave them an honest try. They never delivered.
In addition, they insist on annoying you by telephone and telling you how great their customer service is (even though they never even delivered the product I purchased).
Repeated emails confirmed their policy of insisting on […]
I weighed in at 280.5 this morning.
I had granola and yogurt for breakfast (both organic) and an organic grapefruit. Granola is about the closest thing in the U.S. that I can find to my favorite Swiss cereal… muslix.
Today, I’m going for a 2 mile walk… up from a mile each day last week.
-James D. Brausch
Dinner was a wedge salad (organic) with blue cheese crumbles and cherry tomatoes (all organic).
That was followed by fillet mignon of elk (also called the back strap). I marinaded the elk overnight in the refrigerator in a marinade of soy sauce, lemon juice, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, salt, pepper and cayenne.
Dessert was another scoop of […]
I weighed in at 278 this morning.
I had fried eggs and beef sausage for breakfast. That was followed with a half grapefruit. Everything was organic.
I’m off for a leisurely Saturday walk. The weather is awesome today.
