Does The Switch Diet Work Long-term?

Yes.  It does.  I lost 40 pounds and I’ve kept it off.  I never suffered.  I never got tired of what I was eating.

The trick was simply to switch diets every week.  That kept me from ever getting tired of a particular diet.  It also ensured that I was receiving proper nutrition by having a wide variety of different diets.  It also ensured maximum rapid weight loss by confusing my body with a different eating plan every week.

Most of all, I could find out exactly what worked for MY body by looking at the results for each week.  I discovered that my biggest eating plan problems were in the areas of sugars and grains.  My weight problem is probably due to being pre-diabetic (never diagnosed, but it is apparent that an insulin imbalance and the inability to properly process simple carbohydrates is my big weak point).

It is hard to discover these kinds of things if you don’t test.  Testing is the process of trying a bunch of different things to see what works.

After 40 pounds, I took a long break to see if the weight would return.  I did continue to eat in a rational way.  I avoided simple carbohydrates (although I allowed myself a cheat day each week).  I continued to eat as much unprocessed food as possible.  Other than that, I just relaxed.

The result?  I stopped the weight loss routine (changing eating plans weekly) several months ago now.  My weight at the end was 245 pounds.  My current weight is 246 pounds.

The weight stayed off.  This is not a yo-yo like so many people experience when they try a radical diet and lose lots of weight rapidly… and then rapidly re-gain it.

This did work rather rapidly.  I lost an average of 10 pounds per month.  It did not yo yo like many other diets do though.

Continue looking at all of those other diets.  They can be great input for your own switch diet plan.  But, I would encourage you not to become married to any one diet.  It can only lead to disaster as you get sick and tired of it and then binge.

Instead, switch diets every single week.  Don’t ever blame yourself for a lack of weight loss.  Simply make a note that a particular diet didn’t work and don’t use that diet again.

Measure your results.  Use that as feedback to return to diets that you enjoyed and you lost weight on.  But even then… continue to switch around among two or three eating plans that work well for you.

It’s a great way to lose weight.  I’ve been through other plans.  I regained the weight.  I also hated them after awhile.  Since this plan changed weekly, there is nothing to hate.

Give it a try!

The proof is up there in the pictures.

That’s great to see James. Starchy carbs are definitely the foods to avoid, especially processed carb laden foods.

You’ll receive a massive boost if you were to now introduce some daily deep breathing exercises to increase your body’s metabolism and I also recommend starting to do a few minutes a day of Matt Furey’s body weight exercises he outlines in his combat conditioning book.

Doing what you did and adding in my recommendations took me from 225lb of lard to 165lb of muscle.

I still only do 10-15 minutes of exercise a day and 5 minutes of deep breathing.

15-20 minutes a day for a long and healthy, positive feeling life is a great payoff IMO.

  4. What a good idea switching diets! Most diets don’t work because people get bored with the same eating plans. People might even look forward to their new diet each week.
